SPS Paintball Tournament Grant - Initiative by Buona Vista YEC

SPS Paintball Tournament Grant - An initiative supported by Buona Vista Youth Executive Committee

Buona Vista Youth Executive Committee (YEC) in partnership with the Singapore Paintball Series (SPS) will be awarding 3 SPS Paintball Tournament Grant of up to $200.00 each to deserving paintballers and referees who will be attending the World Cup Asia held in Langkawi from 10th - 13th November 2011. The objectives of setting up this grant is to encourage deserving youth participants of the SPS to participate in the sport outside of Singapore and to allow them to experience the atmosphere of participating in a world class event. The Committee and the SPS organizers hope that this grant will allow more Singaporean youths to take a proactive approach in pursuing their interest and to be able to represent Singapore in the international stage. "We are happy to establish this tournament grant with Buona Vista YEC and hope that this will be a yearly initiative so as to allow more Singaporeans to experience paintball as a sport outside of Singapore" said Mr. Ben Seow who is the Tournament Promoter of the SPS. Ben added that when he first started playing the sport about 5 years ago, there was no such grant to support the development of local paintball as such he is hoping that this will be one of the many projects that the SPS establish with the grassroots and community as the sports progresses.

SPS introduces new promotional criteria

As a developing paintball league in Singapore and Asia, the SPS is ever changing to adopt the best practices in the paintball industry. Since establishment, several paintball development initiatives have been introduced to maintain healthy competition amongst participating teams. The Rookie Challenge series organized by Red Dynasty Paintball Park and endorsed by the SPS is one of the many initiatives to provide a progressive platform for new participants and maintain competitive balance for newly formed teams. The restriction of players’ eligibility which is limited to players residing in Singapore was to allow Singapore-based teams to improve and progress in strength, skills and experience through local competitions. With up to 4 playing Divisions (Open, Novice, Corporate and Tertiary), the SPS provides a selection of competitive levels for teams and individuals.
