10 participants took part in the Singapore Paintball Series Referee Level 1 Certification Course held on 18 - 19 June 2011 organized by the Singapore Paintball Series Referees. The SPS Referees was officially established in 2010 with the formation of the Singapore Paintball Series event with aims of developing paintball referees in Singapore. The SPS Referee Level 1 Certification is also supported by the AsiaRef body and is deemed as a pre-requisite for the AsiaRef Level 1 Certification.
Participants had to undergo a theory and a practical lesson of the certification which will allow them to have some hands on in refereeing friendly skirmish by local paintball teams. Led by SPS Head Referee, Mr. Muhamad Azhar and assisted by SPS Referee course instructor, Mr. Idi Bakhtiar B Md D'zokere and Mr. Eugene Lau, not a single rock were left unturned as the participants went through a series of questions and answers with the instructors in the 2 days course.
"Refereeing is an important factor in the development of every sports. Paintball can only progress with a group of competent refereeing body who are willing to take on these roles. The SPS will invest in the development of the referee body in Singapore with aims of sending some of our best representatives to officiate in overseas paintball event" exclaimed Mr. Ben Seow who is the Tournament Promoter of the Singapore Paintball Series.
